Young adults face the challenge of navigating a cluttered financial world. PNC is a timeless brand that millions of consumers choose to bank with. The upcoming generation, Gen Z, is beginning their financial journeys, and PNC wants to be a part of that. Users can opt into a better way to bank with PNC. With customization, easier tracking, and educational elements. Gen Z can improve financial literacy.

Understanding

Gen Z is a digital generation living online. They seek financial independence but need that boost to get there. Online Gen Z interacts with visual trackers and ways of incentivizing goals.

Research showed users want new savings tools. Plus, they want a personalized experience.

Planning

With insights from research, we began mapping out how the app will function—identifying what major changes will be made to the app.
We found that the navigation was required to address the pain points identified.

Wireframing

This phase involved creating low-fidelity designs to visualize the app, allowing us to test features with users to find what resonates with Gen Z.
Gen Z preferred customizable features and saw value in educational features.

Customization

Users can now personalize their home screen to fit their needs. Templates are provided for those who want a simplified experience. These templates were developed based on user personas we developed

Users felt in control of their finances. Allowing them to access what matters to them easily.

Functionality

The Money Hub holds all the core features users expect from a banking app. Users can track their spending habits, manage their cards, and easily transfer funds.

Widgets on the home screen lead to places within the Money Hub. So users can access the information they seek quickly.

Users found Money Hub refreshing and goals motivating. Making saving tangible and rewarding

Goals

Users can instantly put money aside for the future.Visual elements help users track their savings, making their goals tangible.

Easier access to tracking goals allowed users to engage with their finances.

Learning

With Gen Z beginning their financial journeys, the learning feature provides micro-learning tasks that teach users. This feature was designed to be non-invasive on the core features of the app.

Users found learning to be a beneficial addition, allowing them to learn at their own pace.
